Through his AI research, he has builtmathematical models used to predict audit outcomes of South Africanmunicipalities. The aim of his work is to better understand the factors thatdrive audit outcomes in an automated fashion, making it easier for auditors toconduct their duties.
Wilson's findings have been published in PLOSOne, a peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published by the PublicLibrary of Science. His Ph.D. research has resulted in 10 international journalarticles, with a book to be published by Netherlands-based academic publishingcompany, Elsevier.
Wilson was one of 16 Ph.D. students in theworld to receive the Google Ph.D. fellowship in machine learning in 2020. Hisvision is to see AI used to improve the living conditions of South Africans andthe world at large.
