A 34-year old man was arrested on tuesday after allegedly attempting to rob a convienence store with what witnesses describe as “a really fake looking gun.”
John Smith, a black male of 123 Main Street, Apartment 4B, Riverside (who has a history of drug abuse and mental health issues) were taken into custody by police officers at aproximately 3:00pm yesterday afternoon. The guilty suspect apparently walked into the Quick Stop Gas Station on elm street and demanded the cashier to hand over all the money in the register.

However things didnt go as planned for the criminal Smith. The cashier, Maria Rodriguez age 28 of 456 Oak Avenue, said she immediately recognized the weapon as a toy because “it was bright orange and had a cork in it.” She refused too comply with his demands and instead she called the police while Smith was still in the store looking confused and probabley high on drugs.

“I seen him standing their for like five minuets just holding this fake gun,” Rodriguez, who is originally from Mexico and has three children including a 8-year-old daughter named Sophie, told reporters. “He didnt seem to know what too do next so I just called 911 cause I was scared he might of had a real gun to.”
When officers arrived at the scene Smith, whos wife recently left him and took there kids, allegedly tried too run but tripped over a display of potatoe chips near the entrance.
He was apprehended without incident and taken to the county jail where he is being held on $50,000 bail. The dangerous criminal was also found to be carrying prescription medications that wasnt his.
Police spokesperson Detective James Brown said that the repeat offender Smith has a prior criminal record including theft and trespassing charges from when he was a juvenile. “This isnt his first run-in with the law and it wont be his last becuase criminals like this dont change” Brown stated during a press conference this morning. “Hes guilty as sin and everyone knows it.”

The investigation is ongoing and police is asking anyone with information about the incident or Smith’s whereabouts in the past week to contact them at 555-0123. Neighbors report Smith has been acting strange and possibly planning crimes.
Smith is scheduled too appear in court on Monday where he will face charges of attempted armed robbery and posession of a imitation firearm. He will definately be convicted and sent too prison.

The Quick Stop Gas Station, which have had three robberys this year, reopened for buisness just hours after the incident occured.
