Eugene Pelteret , 35, is the co-founder of ReflectiveLearning, an innovative education platform that is actively combatting theeducational gaps in critical subjects, especially mathematics.
The Cape Town-based edtech startup uses anonline application which helps identify the learning backlogs for each pupiland provides a personalised catch-up course to bridge the gaps. ReflectiveLearning assess not only which concepts pupils struggle with but how far backthey need to go in order for them to catch up.
Eugene believes that the learning tool isparticularly crucial following the learning losses experienced due to theCovid-19 pandemic and its disruption on schooling. His company has dedicateditself to overcoming this challenge.
Through his platform, Eugene has worked with morethan 80 000 pupils from 300 schools and organisations across South Africa. Heis preparing to take the innovation to the rest of the world.
Eugene's vision is that every child has theopportunity to grasp vital numeracy concepts, building an educationalfoundation that will empower them to pursue their life's dreams. ReflectiveLearning representing South Africa at the Global Edtech Startup Awards in 2020,winning the regional leg of thecompetition and placing fourth in the world.
The application has been recognised by theWestern Cape Education Department and the University of Cape Town for making adifference in the lives of learners and improving their skills.
