Evan Naud 's column "Small town trouble", about his "fortydays" escapades at Vredenburg High School, took me back to my own time there.
I matriculated in 1968 and every boy in those years with agriculturalsciences as a subject was allocated a piece of land to farm for five years. Weplanted vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, onions and beetroot.
During first break, we would each eat a head of cauliflower, resulting inan interesting time in the classroom afterwards… The teacher got so infuriatedthat plenty of boys were kicked out!
