Barthlo Barnard of Pretoria writes Last December, I went for an evening stroll on the beach near Hartenbos with my wife and our two daughters.

An armada of bluebottles had washed ashore and there was something about the scene that was begging to be photographed.

My "proper" camera was back at the house; I only had my Samsung Galaxy Note with me.

For a phone camera, I think it did a pretty good job! The last rays of sunlight reflected off the wet sand, illuminating all the pinks, blues and purples of the bluebottle.

The whelks around it added some interest.
