  • American musician DDG and actor Halle Bailey have announced their split after two years together.
  • DDG shared on Instagram that the decision was mutual, and they remain best friends and dedicated co-parents to their son, Halo.
  • Their relationship faced public scrutiny and stress, including cheating accusations and the challenges of new parenthood.

American musician and social media personality DDG, real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry, announced his split from The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey.

Taking to Instagram, DDG shared a lengthy statement saying that the two of them have decided to part ways after a long conversation and some time to reflect.

"This decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we've shared," DDG continued.

Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other.

"As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we've built and beautiful moments we've shared. As we navigate this transition we ask for you understanding and support."

The pair were together for about two years before their split, and share a baby boy named Halo, who was born in late 2023.

This isn't the first time the pair's love life has been cast in the spotlight.

In February 2023, DDG was accused of cheating on Halle with his ex-girlfriend Rubi Rose after Rose claimed he had gifted Halle one of her old shirts. Both DDG and Halle shut down the claims at the time.

Taking to X, Halle wrote, "The devil is working lol. Please don't feed into the lies, especially from a third party. Stay blessed, everyone."

Their relationship has been subject to public scrutiny ever since, with many of the 24-year-old star's fans outwardly voicing their disdain for DDG.

Many of these fans may need to be aware of the strain on relationships after a baby is welcomed.

Dr Charl Davids, a Cape Town-and Kimberley-based psychologist, previously explained to News24 that it is not uncommon for new moms to experience "baby blues" - a feeling Bailey also previously opened up about having.

"Parenting involves multitasking, constant demands, and responsibilities, which can be mentally and emotionally taxing.

"This can lead to increased stress, fatigue, and feelings of being overwhelmed, impacting their ability to cope and function effectively," said Davids.

He added that the physical and emotional exhaustion of looking after a child all day, along with a shift in identity and priorities and a complete lack of personal space, impacts a mother's desire to engage with her partner-something that could have possibly been the case with Bailey and DDG.
