Get information about your date
According to dating sites JDateand Christian Mingle, more people now prefer meeting people online than face to face. So, before meeting a person, do your research. That includes knowing his full names and surname, where he lives, what he does for a living, and his social media profiles. This will help avoid meeting with a potential predator.
Watch out for comments
We know how awkward and nerve-wrecking first dates can be, but be wary of his comments. These are things that make you feel uncomfortable, like commenting on the size of you butt, or being overly friendly. The best thing to do in such a situation is to leave immediately.
Meet in a public place
You might think this is such an obvious one but there are some brave people out there. Now that you've talked to him a couple of times you're at a point where you feel like you know him well. When you do meet, make sure it's at a mutual place, and that doesn't include where you live, says author of Are your habits killing you? Kimberly Cheryl.
Have someone on standby
This is an oldie but a goldie. No matter how trusting of a person you are, never agree to meet a stranger without informing a friend or family member. If your date is going pear-shaped these are people who'll be able to bail you out.
Have your own transport
You don't want to be stranded on a boring date in an unsafe environment because you have no idea how you'll get back home. Even if your date offers to pick you up, make sure you've got enough cash to get you back home should your date not go as planned.
Limit alcohol consumption
It's no secret that alcohol lowers your inhibitions so one glass with your meal is enough. If your date is a potential predator he'll find it easy to get you to leave with him if you're intoxicated. In essence, no matter how much you like the guy, safety comes first.
