How to create cute storage solutions

Make these nifty holders for bits and bobs and give them a fresh look with Woodoc Colours.

You will need

  • pine plank (44mm x 69mm x 1.8m)
  • measuring tape
  • jigsaw
  • drill
  • g-clamps
  • sandpaper
  • vice grip
  • spade drill bits (35mm and 25mm)
  • Woodoc Water-Borne Floor Clear Matt
  • Woodoc Colours Yellow and Opal
  • mixing containers
  • mixing sticks
  • masking tape
  • round stickers (30mm)
  • paintbrushes

Here's how...

1 Measure and mark 2 sections of 185mm on the pine plank.

2 Clamp the plank onto your work surface and, using the jigsaw, cut on the marks you made in step 1.

3 Sand the edges smooth.

4 Mark where you want to drill the three holes, equally spaced. For the little plant holder, drill on the wide side of the plank with the 35mm drill bit and for the make-up brushes, drill on the narrow side with the 25mm drill bit.

5 Clamp the planks into the vice grip or secure with a g-clamp and drill the holes on the marks you made in step 4.

6 Decant about 70ml of Woodoc Water-Borne Floor Clear Matt into the mixing containers. Add a bit of the Woodoc Colours into each container and mix well.

7 Use the masking tape and stickers to mask the pattern you want on the wooden blocks.

8 Paint the blocks with two coats of the Woodoc mixtures, letting it dry between coats.

9 Remove the stickers and the masking tape and paint another two coats of Woodoc Water-Borne Floor Clear Matt to seal the rest of the wood.
