Its range of funds spans hedge funds, long-only unit trusts and global investment funds, and its strategy is to partner with independent, high-performing fund managers with “differentiated and proven investment strategies”, says Nico Janse van Rensburg, Head of Retail Distribution at Amplify Investment Partners.
The fund management of its Amplify SCI Wealth Protector Fund is outsourced to Truffle Asset Management.
The fund is primarily mandated to deliver consistent, reliable, inflation-beating returns while prioritising capital preservation and downside protection for investors who cannot afford significant drawdowns, says Van Rensburg.
“This strategy focuses on generating a strong baseline return by combining yield plus conviction earnings in sectors like banks and property, maintaining agility and flexibility to navigate market volatility, and a rigorous process focused on avoiding ‘the bombs’ — companies with unquantifiable or highly uncertain earnings.”
The fund, which has R9 billion under management, is Regulation 28-compliant, holds a maximum of 40% in equities (including offshore equities), and is is aimed at investors who can stay invested for more than three years. It seeks to deliver a smooth return of CPI plus 3%.
Over the past three years, the fund has delivered an annualised return of 14.5% (up to end February 2026).
‘Stock-picker’s market, not a beta trade’
Sanlam Investments manages the Amplify SCI Property Equity Fund, which has R1 billion under management.
The fund aims to provide investors with income and growth over the medium to long term, with medium to high risk, primarily by investing in South African listed property.
Over the past five years (to end-February), the fund has delivered an annualised return of more than 23%.
“Listed property remains attractive, but the broad re-rating trade is largely behind us,” says Fayyaz Mottiar, the portfolio manager on the fund.
“From here, returns are likely to be driven less by sector momentum and more by stock selection, earnings resilience, balance-sheet strength and tenant quality. The return outcome will also be shaped by the sector’s yield relationship to bonds, which remains central to capital allocation into listed property.”
